Ring of Honor 2/2/2013: Weekly Show Recap

Courtesy ROHWrestling.com
Top Prospect Tournament

Truth Martini is doing commentary for this match and generally making the show better. Kevin and Caleb on the other hard... Well it is mostly Kevin with his forced and cheesy catch phrases that seem so forced.

Antonio "The Promise" Thomas vs Tadarius Thomas

  • The Tale of the Tape listed Antonio as being 34 but Kevin says he is 20 something not sure who to believe.
  • Truth leaves the broadcast booth halfway through the match. He wants to get a closer look at the action. It just so happens that Tadarius and Truth have some sort of a history.
Winner Tadarius Thomas via pin.

Mike Mondo will be doing commentary during this match. He gives us an update on his leg. he is due to visit doctors in a week or so. He has a gripe with Roderick Strong. He is cheering Grizzly on. Mondo comes across in a more likable way. Then they do a piece introducing Redwood.

Grizzly Redwood vs Roderick Strong

  • Before the match, Strong lets Grizzly know how much of a big deal this is for him. But for Strong, this is a small deal.
  • I like Grizzly, he does a good job of be believable in his matches. I like rooting on a small guy.
  • Mondo is talking up Grizzly so much, they might make a good tag team. Mondo does a better job of calling the match than the duo we have now. Not saying much though. Now I feel I am being overly critical of Kevin and Caleb though. Kevin needs someone to balance him out badly. Someone with more personality, well a personality that isn't forced. Caleb has good potential, but the duo clearly needs  something else.
Winner:Strong  via the Strong Hold. He continues to bully Redwood and Elgin comes out to run Strong off.

Mike Bennett w Brutal Bob and Maria vs Michael Elgin

  • Bennett really has the WWE look I could see both of these guys in either WWE or TNA in a few years. That is if ROH doesn't continue to grow. I think in 5 years the wrestling world will be quite aware of ROH. Much more than now.
  • These guys put on a heck of a match. As usual Bennett's entourage gets involved in the match.
Winner: Michael Elgin via Elgin Bomb

Tag Team Gauntlet Tournament The winner of this tournament will get a shot at the Tag Team Championship. The Wolves drew 1 and The Bravados drew 2 so that will be match 1.

Round 1 American Wolves vs The Bravados
  • The Bravados will be going back to Japan for further training. I like their attitude since their first trip. I really wanna see what they look like when they come back. #BravadoBandwagon
  • Haas comes out during the match and expresses his displeasure at not being in the Tag Tournament. He feels the tournament should have been postponed until his tag partner Shelton returned.
  • Davey taps out Harlem ending round 1.

Round 2 American Wolves vs S.C.U.M.
  • Haas runs down both members of S.C.U.M. showing that he really is a Haashole. he has run down everyone in the tag division.
  • Richards pins Corino, but after the match Corino knocks Davey out with the time keepers bell. . and hits Eddie with a roll of quarters. O'Reilly and Fish are set up for an easy win.

Round 3 American Wolves vs Team AM Fishin'
  • The Wolves are tired form the previous rounds and hurt from the attack after round 2. But they are still putting up some good opposition.
  • The Wolves have shown me they are near the top of the tag team chain, but tonight is not their night.
Winner: O'Reilly and Fish via pin.

Another good show for ROH, this is one you should try to see if you have time.
