Tommaso Ciampa Will Be Back Soon.

The Sicilian Psychopath is on his way back. Boy did I forget about Lethal's low blow to win the third fall in that match. A lot has to be said about fighting through a torn ACL to finish that match. Not to mention him getting the second fall. Tommaso was the fastest rising star in ROH in my opinion. I can see him feuding with Lethal as that never ended and he obviously remembers. Will we see Ciampa hopefully with Prince NaNa at the 11th Anniversary show? I sure do hope so.

Ring of Honor 2/23/2013: Weekly Show Recap

Steen comes out first to make a few points. He hated Ring of Honor with Jim Cornette in control. He hated what ROH had become. Now that Jim is gone, he is proud to be ROH Champion. He is giving Lethal a shot not because he beat good wrestlers but because he got rid of Jim Cornette. Steen says he will still do anyyhing to keep the title. The truth is He feels Lethal can't beat him.

Top Prospect Tournament Final Round

Tadarius Thomas and Matt Taven both cut promos before this match. The promos are intertwined and we get a small taste of who these two guys are. Both guys could use a boost in stature in their young ROH careers. So here we go the final round in the prospect tournament.

Tadarius Thomas vs Matt Taven

• No Truth Martini  for this one. He is not doing Color commentary.
• I hate how they do the tale of the tape. Kelly always talks about who "Obviously" had an experience advantage. I call BS. Age is not Experience. Edit the graffic if that is important.
• The winner of this match gets a Television Championship match at 11th Anniversary.
• Martini makes his way ringside during the match. 
• Truth tries several times to help Thomas, but Tadarius wants no part of it.
• Because of this Taven is able to pull out the win

Winner: Matt Taven After the match Taven agrees to join the HOT. 

Lethal Addresses the Kevin Steen Situation

• He doesn't believe a thing that Steen said earlier. He must be playing mind games like he did with Davey Richards.
• Lethal isn't going for the games, he has only one focus ROH World Championship.
• The reason he believes he will win at 11th Anniversary,  it the Kevin Steen believes the Lethal can't.

Strong and redDRagon (Team Am Fishin') cut a promo before the match. Then we find out that The Briscoes will be doing Color for this match.

American Wolves and Michael Elgin vs Roderick Strong and redDRagon

• Jay Briscoe says that Strong has an ailing shoulder. He used to have the hardest chop in ROH but now Eddie Edwards does.
• The Briscoes are good on color. This is a good match. 
• "If Bobby Fish was a fish, what type of fish would he be?"
• Lots of Redskins fans in this Baltimore crowd.

Winner Strong and redDRagon Strong pins Elgin making it 3 - 0 I guess Strong is that good.

Is Lethal Ready for Kevin Steen?

Less than a week away and I can feel the excitement building. This should be a good main event. Steen will stop at nothing to remain the Champion and Lethal will have to do everything to win the title from Steen. Is he really ready for that?

Ring of Honor 11th Anniversary Preview

Thank you for taking the time to read my 11th Anniversary Preview. This is Ring of Honor's first iPPV  since Final Battle. There have been many developments since then. This should be a fantastic show. There are a lot of grudges on this card as you will see. There is somewhat of a cloud hanging over the show though, as Steve Corino has promised to turn Ring of Honor into Ring of S.C.U.M. Saturday Mar 2. 2013 8:30 pm.

 ROH World Championship

The main event will be Jay Lethal challenging Kevin Steen for the ROH World Championship  The story to this started back when Jim Cornette told Jay Lethal that he didn't have any "Killer Instinct". Lethal didn't take too kindly to that and it caused him to become more volatile  Jay Lethal won a chance to fight Steen for the ROH Championship, but in a match with Steen before he had a chance to cash his match in, something happened. Steen and Lethal's mom got into it ringside and Steen spits on Lethal's mom. Lethal snaps

After that happened, Steen made ROH agree that he never had to fight Lethal again. After months of frustration, Lethal got Steen to agree to a match. Steen, it appears, has changed. Since his Ladder War with El Generico, he hasn't been too tight with the rest of S.C.U.M. I might be reading into it too much, but I am interested to see how this develops. Will Lethal get his revenge and win the title? Or will Steen continue his reign of Evil?

ROH World Tag Team Championship

At this point the Briscoe Brothers are the face of the ROH tag Division. The 8 time champions will be defending their title against Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly. Team Am Fishin' are a new team without the experience a team like the Briscoes have. Don't let that fool you though. These are two rood fighters and their chemistry is developing well. In order to get this title shot Fish and O'Reilly won a tag team gauntlet under questionable circumstances.Many feel the Wolves should be in this match, but I will have more on them in a bit. Is Team Am Fishin' ready to win the tag titles? Not if Dem Boys from Sandy Fork have anything to say about it.

Dream Tag Match

The American Wolves  appeared to be in good shape in the tag gauntlet match I referenced earlier. But after they eliminated S.C.U.M., they were attacked and left as easy pickings for Fish and O'Reilly. Having missed out on the title shot, ROH set them up with a dream opponent. The Forever Hooligans.

"Romero's resume in Ring of Honor is strong with two World Tag Championship reigns under his belt (the first with Ricky Reyes, the second with Davey Richards), and his international credits are just as stacked. A former IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion as Black Tiger, he also holds three IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship reigns under his belt; two of those actually with Richards, and the most recent one, which ended on November 11^th, was with Koslov at his side.

Koslov's ROH history is short but includes battles with some of the best including Roderick Strong, Bryan Danielson, and Romero himself. Ever since his return to independent wrestling, Koslov has been chomping at the bit to get back into ROH competition and now he will get that opportunity with Romero at his side."

2 out of 3 Falls Match- Truth Martini Barred from Ringside

The next match is really a grudge match. Michael Elgin and Roderick Strong were on the same team a little while ago. They were both members of the House of Truth. That is the reason Truth Martini is barred from ringside. He will not be involved in this match. These two couldn't get along on the same team, but they always have good matches when in the ring. This will be no different. It is 2 out of 3 falls, so it appears this will settle this feud once and for all.

ROH World Television Championship

Adam Cole will be defending his TV title and anything can happen as rumors swirl about him and WWE. He is set to defend against Matt Taven. This has a big match and opportunity for Taven who will be with Truth Martini. Can he take advantage? 

No Holds Barred

If two men ever had a grudge these two have it. This all began when BJ Whitmer started teaming with Rhett Titus. It really got personal for Whitmer though when Haas put him through a table head first at Final Battle.

  Then this happened.

Speaking of Haas, he has another feud now also.

This "No Holds Barred" match will be wild.  BJ Is tough and definitely will have motivation to the destructive Charlie Haas.

Grudge Match

That brings us to the grudge match between S.C.U.M. and Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander. Anytime C and C are on the card, you better pay attention. This is where I guess we will see S.C.U.M. try to fulfill their prediction. 

6 Man Mayhem Match

This will be QT Marshall vs ACH vs Tadarius Thomas vs Silas Young vs Mike Sydal vs Adam Page. Basically all of the prospects that didn't win the tournament will have a chance to earn a name live on iPPV. Early favorites have to be Thomas and QT Marshall. I really like ACh though so that who I will be pulling for.

This should be a good show. I like the card from top to bottom. So be sure to check this one out. With ROH you never know when the next match of the year candidate will happen. (Elgin vs Strong?) Not to even mention three great Tag team matches. No other promotion does a tag division like ROH. 

Charlie Haas is a Loose Cannon

Haas has lost it. Not only does he hate everything and everyone. He takes pleasure in beating a trainee that is  less than half of his size. I am glad Cheeseburger has the nerve to stand up to him though. After the beating he just took, It doesn't appear he will be standing up to anyone anytime soon.

Truth Martini is at the commentator booth and that can only mean one thing. It is time for some colorful commentary.

Top Prospect Tournament Semi Final Round

Before the match Veda is interviewing TD Thomas and QT Marshall comes in to interrupt. Barrister Evans is overseas doing important business for QT. Not sure what that means, we will have to wait and see.

"Gods Gift" QT Marshall vs Tadarius Thomas

• Kevin sets himself up so much in this match. Even commenting on Martini's balls.
• QT gets a lot of heat from the Baltimore crowd. 
• See if you can spot me chanting QT Sucks in the crowd.
• This is a slow paced match that Marshall likes.

The Haas and BJ Whitmer Feud Escalates

It turns out Liberty Ford in Baltimore signed Haas to make an appearance. Since he showed up late, so Joe Koff brought in BJ Whitmer to do it instead. A brawl breaks out because of this and spills into the parking lot. BJ gets severely beaten. Haas is out of control and will certainly get in trouble for this.

Nick Westgate and Brian Fury vs Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander

• Fury keeps trying to get the refs attention that the turnbuckle strings are in the wrong place. During a tag match the outside partner is supposed hold the string. no one pays him any attention though. 
• Just as the match is getting started. out comes Rhyno and Steve Corino of S.C.U.M.
• Rhyno gores Cedric and Corino hits Coleman with something like brass knuckles or a chain, can't really see. Instant DQ. 
• Corino says evil is coming on March 2, 2013. Ring of Honor dies and it will be Ring of S.C.U.M.

Silas Young is interviewed by Veda. This is a good way for us to get to know the guys that made it to the semi finals.

Matt Taven is interviewed next. He has "The Look" The the industry looks for so let see how he develops.

Silas Young vs Matt Taven

• Martini starts off with questionable comments about Matt Taven.
• Then it turns out he had some comments on recent DVD tapings. I gotta check that out.
• I am impressed by both of them two in the ring and hope to see more of them. 
• Sylas can be a good heel. I can see that in him. Taven has a lot of potential also.
• This is a good match between these two.

Inside Ring of Honor

Veda Scott interviews the Zombie Princess Jimmy Jacobs. He is really dolled up today, but he is intent on hurting Jay Lethal tonight.

Steve Corino is going to join the commentary team for this match.

Jimmy Jacobs vs Jay Lethal

• Corino is still saying he has something in store for ROH at the next I-PPV.
• He goes on to make more comments about Lethal's family. He has to be on Lethal's radar after Steen.
• Corino leaves the booth to celebrate what he thought was a win but Jacobs doesn't get it

Winner Jay Lethal; but after the match Corino and Rhyno come out to destroy Lethal. Caprice comes to make the save but the numbers catch up to him. Then oddly Steen comes out and stops them. He then offers to help Lethal up, but an unsure Jay rolls out of the ring instead.

Truth Martini is doing commentary with Caleb and Kevin as usual during the Top prospect tournament matches.

Matt Taven vs ACH

• "Hey Kevin, Smell my finger." Martini is great. LOL
• "If I was in a match with Matt Taven, I wouldn't know whether to punch him or kiss him"
• "Gentleman, This is exciting, this is exciting! I can feel myself almost about to get off!"
• But seriously this is a good match. both men should have a future in ROH and this is a match worth seeing

Winner Matt Taven via frog splash then pin.

Nigel McGuinness meets with Adam Cole and Matt Hardy

• First, Nigel knows they both want a match against each other for the title. But Nigel says no.
• Since Matt had to kick Adam in the nuts to win he doesn't deserve a shot at the title.
• Hardy declines and says Nigel is jealous of him and his bank account.
• Adam says anytime, anyplace he can put the title on the line.
• Nigel say no. If Matt Hardy wants a title shot he has to prove it to Nigel.
• They break into a fight and a cute kid in the crowd chants along with "Let them fight!" awesome.

The Briscoes and C and C are shown backstage getting hyped up for their match.

Veda Scott is doing commentary for this Womens of Honor match. she stresses that the Women bring the best wrestling on the planet just like the men do. I have to agree as this match is much beter than anything you would see from WWE Divas.

Athena vs Mschif

• This is a good match, lots of good action
• They hint toward ROH looking to add more women. I can see them having a womens division. To me, they should set it up for the women to have their own show. Show it on SBG and on ROHWrestling.com. That is just my two cents.
• I am impressed by Athena and the fans got behind her. I want to see her again. Please!

Winner Mschif  good match here. 

8 Man Tag Match

S.C.U.M. vs C & C and the Briscoes

• Jay Lethal is at the announce booth for this match. He has Keven Steen in his sights.
• This match is just a brawl to start. All eight men are fighting outside the ring
• Jay Lethal can't even have his mom watch the match ROH, because of Corino and all of his comments.
• This match is out of Control as S.C.U. M. is ignoring the refs and doing whatever they want.

Winners S.C.U.M. It seems like Steen isn't seeing eye to eye with Corino, and the rest of S.C.U.M. We will have to see where this goes.

Top Prospect Tournament

Truth Martini is doing commentary for this match and generally making the show better. Kevin and Caleb on the other hard... Well it is mostly Kevin with his forced and cheesy catch phrases that seem so forced.

Antonio "The Promise" Thomas vs Tadarius Thomas

• The Tale of the Tape listed Antonio as being 34 but Kevin says he is 20 something not sure who to believe. 
• Truth leaves the broadcast booth halfway through the match. He wants to get a closer look at the action. It just so happens that Tadarius and Truth have some sort of a history.

ROH News Recap Jan 27 - Feb 1

• News item number one, ROH Wrestling returns to Baltimore. As usual, I will be at the Du Burns Arena. This year is starting off fast for ROH, this looks to be a good year. Last year, to me, was a transition year and I am interested to see where things go. If you get a chance to go to a live ROH show, don't let yourself down. You need to go to that show. Bring signs, bring streamers, and have a great time. I know I will on Feb 2. Check out the list of upcoming events. 
• "Unnamed sources say that ROH World Champion Kevin Steen has a lot on his mind and that he will address everything on February 2nd in Baltimore"

• So, WGTT vs The Briscoes at this TV taping. If WGTT does not win, they cannot team in ROH ever again.
• Next I want to say this is supposed to be a spoiler free blog. So I will try to not be giving match spoilers or anything like that. I want you to enjoy watching the same way I do. I will discuss news that is on ROHwrestling.com, or rumors that I may come across. But I will try not to give spoilers, I don't want to ruin a match you may want to see or ruin a surprise that may be building. Just common courtesy. I will see how this works and change as needed though.
• On February 16 QT Marshall will be fortunate enough to wrestle Jay Briscoe. This is a big opportunity for the Quite Terrible One. I hope he gets his tail handed to him.
• The Forever Hooligans will face the American Wolves at the 11th Anniversary Show. This is being called a dream match, so here is a video of the Forever Hooligans as an intro if you are not familiar with them.

• Another big match has been signed for the 11th Anniversary Show. "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin vs. Roderick Strong one-on-one in a 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match. This is most likely the blow off match. If Truth Martini shows up during the match he will be suspended indefinitely. I wouldn't expect to see Martini until he gets a new HOT member though.
